by iGloomy on Apr.21, 2010, under Events Section, Highlights

The editorial team and reporters of Malaysia Cosplay Toshokan manage to cover on the most impressive concert at all times which is the Video Games Live. The day before the event, the Head Of Editorial personally head to the Hotel Concorde in Kuala Lumpur to attend the press conference of Video Games Live. The VGL panelists attended which are Tommy Tallarico, Jack Wall, Norihiko Hibino and Laura Intravia. It was a very delighted environment that Laura Intravia performed live at the press conference of Video Games Live. Soon after the press conference, the Head of Editorial headed back to Negeri Sembilan to prepare for the big day which is the day of the concert.
The day of the concert, the team arrived at the event place about 3 hours early as there was some inconvenience of transportation due to the Head of Events whom he came all the way from Penang. The team brought sufficient equipment for the event and as well as the team’s usual policy, “Cosplay to Support ACG events”. Malaysia Cosplay Toshokan head of department that attends an event will dress up into cosplay costumes. Before the concert started, the Video Games Live Great Musicians reherse perfectly in order to put up the great concert. At about 1230 hours the team registered at the registration booth to go into the Planary Hall in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The concert started of with a cosplay competition. The competition was rather fast but very
intriguing. The three finalist of the competition were from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Halo and Resident Evil. The finalist of the Resident Evil won the cosplay competition and awarded with a goodie bag of the Video Games Live.
The concert played the all time favourite classic video games songs such as Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros, Tetris and more. In addition, the concert also showed a video on the invention of a video game console. In the surprise of everyone, the concert had a live video conference with the inventor of the video game console. Every single gamer that attended the concert felt it was worth it. Not only that, the concert included a game which is an all time classic which is the spaceship shooter participated by a 40 year old audience. It is never old being a gamer. Before Video Games Live started there was a Guitar Hero Competition running. The winner was then invited to the stage to give the last final challenge by Tommy Tallarico. The winner must play a song selected by Tommy Tallarico in hard mode which is the Van Halen’s Jump and the song is simultaneously played by Tommy on the guitar with the orchestral band. He accepted the challenge with the expert mode and impressed everyone that attended the concert. He was so close to winning the prize. As a token of appreciation he is awarded with a goodie bag as well.
Overall, the event was impressive in everyone’s vision. It ended with an all time favourite song from a video game. We managed to pick several attendees for interview. The comment and suggestion interviewed were wishing Video Games Live will be held in Malaysia again next year. To all ACG fans out there, it is a must attend event!
Ocean Of Fire Album Launching
by iGloomy on Nov.25, 2009, under Highlights

Ocean Of Fire
Date: December 20, 2009
Time: 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Location: Penang Hard Rock Cafe
Ocean of Fire was formed towards the end of 2003, playing their own brand of instrumental music with influences from musicians such as Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Andromeda. Throughout the years, the band has progressed through different forms of music and even had vocals at one point. Currently, the band comprises of Kelvyn (band leader) and Chiat on guitars, Jonathan Chen on bass and Jonathan Scully on the drums. With their experiences in different forms of music, they have decided to piece all of their influences together and play a remarkable style of rock fusion. Here they are, we bring you Ocean of Fire.
Members Bio
Kelvyn Yeang
Kelvyn is the leader of the band. A gifted guitarist who simply loves playing music, he was in Hearts on Fire before forming Ocean of Fire with Chiat. Primarily influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and progressive rock/metal outfits such as Angra, Andromeda and Dream Theater, he has now also taken an interest in jazz and its musicians such as Pat Metheny. Kelvyn Yeang currently teaches guitar in Areca Academy of Performing Arts.
Chen Chuin Chiat
Co-founder of Ocean of Fire and schoolmate to Kelvyn, Chiat and Kelvyn decided to form up a band playing their very own brand of instrumental music in 2003. Taking on the role of rhythm guitars and harmonised guitar sections, his influences cover a wide range of bands and solo artists; Dream Theater, Angra, Children of Bodom, Mr. Big, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and George Lynch. Recently, along with Kelvyn, he has also taken an interest in jazz music. Chiat is a writer for the magazines essenze, frezh and In Penang.
Jonathan Scully
Known for his ability to improvise and incorporate jazz and rock touches to the drums, Scully joined Ocean of Fire in early 2006 when the band decided that they need a drummer more suiting to their current style of music. His influences vary between rock, metal and jazz with renowned drummers such as Mike Portnoy, Dave Weckl and Mike Mengini. He is currently studying drums under Jasmi (Jeep Jazz Trio) and sound engineering at Hits Recording Studios while helping out with drum enthusiasts in Areca Academy of Performing Arts.
Jonathan Chen
Jon is the latest member of Ocean of Fire, joining near the middle of 2006 following recommendations from Scully whom he had worked with while playing at Bagan for Rozz and the Jazz Trio. Although his roots were in jazz, he fitted into the band perfectly, adding in a jazzish flavour to the band’s music and style of play while being versatile when it comes to the rock and metal feel. BBQ, as he is known to the band due to his car’s number plate, is a journalist for The Sun and also teaches bass in Areca Academy of Performing Arts.
Let us vote for the libtorrent project that provided our My Cosplay Toshokan the system.
